Every sea turtle we capture gets a flipper tag and a tiny PIT tag—like a pet microchip, but for turtles! If recaptured, these unique IDs help biologists track growth, health, and movements, giving us insights to guide conservation.
With our Tag A Turtle program, you can adopt a flipper tag and name a turtle from past or future tagged turtles. Once you Tag A Turtle, you’ll get a digital certificate, datasheet, and a photo by email. Turtles are speedy little escape artists, so tagging may take time—but you can track your tag’s status on our Find My Turtle page. Thanks for your patience and for helping protect sea turtles!
